Nobukazu Takemura
Musician, Composer & Visual artist
Influenced by punk and new wave, Takemura started making music when he was in junior high. He played in more than one band at that time.
In the 80’s, Takemura became interested in Hip-Hop music and had a great career as scratch DJ. He was also involved in Audio Sports.
In the 90’s, he released three albums and two singles of a kind of acoustic jazz mixed with bossanova music under his own project name, Spiritual Vibes.
After Spiritual Vibes was disbanded in 1993, he started his solo career. Since then Takemura has released more than ten solo albums. He has also created works for TV and cable, collaborations with Issey Miyake for his fashion shows, produced for other artists and remixed for many artists. His now has a very large number of internationally acclaimed releases to his name.
Credits also include sound-design for Sony’s robotic dog Aibo. He has toured USA with Tortoise, Jim O’Rourke and Plaid. In addition he has performed at festivals all over the world.
In 2000 he started a new permanent unit called Assembler. Assembler’s first album has already been released, and the second will be released soon. Now he is making an independent movie “Kobito no Kuni”. His work will mainly be for visuals in the future.
