Dario Buccino

Dario Buccino, composer, instrumentalist and vocalist, was born in Rome in 1968 and has lived in Milan since 1994.

Starting in 1991 he has elaborated the HN System, a system that integrates notation techniques, performing techniques, composing techniques, and is based on the parameterization of physical actions.

From 1993 he has directed the ensemble Laboratorio Aperto Fatti Sonori (now named Ensemble HN) which he himself founded for the performance of his works.

In 1994 he received an official invitation to the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik of Darmstadt to illustrate the HN System.

Moreover, he has held concerts, lectures and workshops for the Italienisches Kulturinstitut in Stuttgart, the Teatro La Fenice of Venice, the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt, Curva Minore in Palermo, the Festival Oltrarno Atelier in Florence, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Conservatorio Antonio Scontrino in Trapani, the Università degli Studi in Palermo, the Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione IULM in Milan, the Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana SUPSI in Lugano, the Laboratorio Aperto Fatti Sonori and in theatres, festivals, squats, streets, squares, at high schools, primary schools, schools of music, drama, dance, courses of musical education (Sistema HN applied to didactics), courses of medical voice care (Sistema HN applied to the voice).

The first phase of research on the HN System led him to compose works for voice, string instruments, brass instruments, two and four hands piano, percussion instruments, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, a mental composition and a collection of teaching compositions for primary school children.

In 1997 he extended his application of the HN System to include sheets of steel.

This second phase of research led him to compose works for steel sheet soloist, steel sheets ensemble, steel sheets and instruments, vocals, dancers, dj, objects, wooden stage, plasterboard walls, participating public, digital processing, etc…

He also works as composer, interpreter, musical consultant for the cinema and the theatre (he has worked with Giovanni Maderna, Monica Bonomi, Leo Muscato, Marco Gobetti), as composer, arranger, rock, pop and jazz guitarist (he has worked with Enten-Eller, Odwalla, Anatrafobia, Daniela Panetta, Roberta Carrieri, L’aura, Il Resto Della Band, Marco Parente), as singer-songwriter, music journalist, busker…

His training includes studies in composition at the Conservatorio of Milan, studies of electronic music at the Civica Scuola di Musica of Milan, specialization courses in composition and analysis, studies in the fields of drama, vocal techniques and performing arts.
